The LifeScale Sensor

The Bypass channel

The bypass channel is located on the left side of the sensor and forms the primary reservoir from which microbes are measured. Prior to any measurement the channel is loaded with inoculate for a period sufficient to ensure the removal of the previous sample. Typical load times are 10 to 15 seconds.

The Micro-channel Resonator (Sensor)

The micro-channel resonator forms the heart of the LifeScale instrument. Deviations from the natural resonant frequency are used to accurately determine the mass and number of microbes as they pass through.

The Waste channel

The waste channel is located on the right side of the sensor and acts as the exit path for microbes that have passed through the sensor.

The video below shows a sensor as it measures red blood cells in Mueller-Hinton broth.
