LifeScale is a new and unique, automated system for rapid antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Powered by MEMS technology, LifeScale detects positive growth and hence yields MIC and interpretive SIR results in under four hours for the majority of Gram negative species.
Available for Evaluation -Available in the USA pending FDA approval
Results in 4-4.5 Hours
The LifeScale-AST provides an MIC result for most Gram-negative organisms in as little as 4 hours. Some organisms, such as Pseudomonus species, may take longer.
Standard Broth Dilution Sample Preparation
Samples are prepared in the same manner as samples for the "reference method" using standard broth dilution techniques. A simple centrifuge step is added in order to remove red blood cells.
MIC and SIR Interpretive Results
LifeScale automatically measures the MIC for each of the antimicrobials on the panel. Once a species ID is available the LifeScale instrument will produce a final report with both MIC and interpretive results. The interpretive results are determined by either FDA, CLSI or local breakpoints.
Custom Well Plate
The LifeScale instrument uses a custom 96-well plate with a broad range of antimicrobials targeted at Gram-Negative samples.

Initially Targeting Gram Negative Rods
The initial release of the LifeScale-AST will target Gram-negative rods from positive blood culture. However, the instrument is capable of determining growth and hence producing a phenotypic AST from Gram-negative and positive species. Information regarding Gram-positive panels is available upon request.
